This is just a reminder that we will be having an outing to Squaw Creek on Friday, December 11. We are going down there to take pictures of eagles. We will be leaving at 5:45 am. We will meet in the Richmont Point Parking Lot (Southwest corner of Fort Crooke Rd and Cornhusker). If you do not want to leave that early you can meet us down there. If you do this just call me when you get there and we will meet up (917-0584). I will be photographing at Squaw Creek from sunrise to sunset. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
If you have never been here to see the eagles I would really recommend to do so. I go here just about every year to photograph em.
Just a reminder that you will need a dollar to get across the Bellevue bridge.

Mike, I'd love to go but I will have to pass as I'll be coming home from Costa Rica late the night before. It should be a great outing as there were lots of eagles there, including this immature one, last Sunday. Pentax PENTAX K-7,Pentax smc A* 600mm f/5.6 ED IF 1/1600s f/5.6 at 600.0mm iso400

Tracy,
The date is the 11 of December. Eagle Days is on the 4,5, and 6 but there are usually numerous school busses causing traffic congestion on these days. To get away from this we will be going a week later.

This is just a reminder of the eagle outing. The time we are leaving will now be 5:30 am. Again we will meet in the parking lot of Richmount Point. This is a strip mall on the south west corner of Fort Crook and Cornhusker in Bellevue.
Now remember to dress warm. It is going to be very cold outside and we will not be running the heat inside the cars (we do this so the lenses do not fog up). Wear several layers of clothes, and make sure they are neutral colors. Where hats and gloves as well. I am not kidding it will get cold. We might even rig my van so the side doors stay open while we drive to make for easy picture taking.
For equipment bring a few memory cards because we will be here all day. Personally I will be bring at least 30 gigs of memory via cards and a computer to free up space on the cards. For batteries charge up and bring all the batteries you have. The cold has a tendency of sucking the life out of batteries fast.
As far as lenses bring your zooms.
Here is some stuff you might want to bring. Thermos of coffee to war you up. Hand warmers (these work we
If you are planing on ridding with me or my father (we have several sets left) keep in mind that we are staying until sundown. For anyone following or ridding with us please give me a call or reapply to this thread so I know who is coming. My phone is 917-0584.
As far as the weather the storm that is forecasted for tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday should not impede our outing. I have called down to the management of Squaw Creek and they have advised me that the roads will be plowed and made ready before Friday. The only thing that might hinder us is ice. If there is ice on the roads then they will open the park at noon. I am going to call down to the park Thursday to see what the outlook will be so please recheck this thread Thursday night for any updates.

There are plenty of eagles this year. I went down last Sunday and was told the count was 288 eagles. The snow geese were also in abundance. On Sunday, most of the water was frozen and the eagles were eating dead geese that were frozen in the water. Some of the best photo opportunities were the dead geese that were closer to shore than the live ones were. The eagles would land by the geese and eat or defend their food from the younger eagles. I wish that I could go down there with the group but I have to work. Good Luck!

We were planning on meeting you down there...however Ole Man Winter played havoc on our work week, therefore, we both have to work tomorrow. I called down there this am, snow geese have migrated south, however still around 100 eagles. You guys have fun, stay warm, and post some photos for the rest of us to see Tracy
